Composed of a six-person team led by Paul Swartz, MSU Arborists are charged with the upkeep and preservation of all the trees on campus. Aiding in tree maintenance near construction sites is among the many duties of MSU Arborists. Construction must be preceded by an Arborist site inspection to ensure the safety of area trees. A common problem is soil compaction caused by heavy machinery near construction sites. Trees are unable to survive in soil with no air space. Arborists are also tasked with:
